The door only had a moment to hiss shut before it was sliding open again, Kirk stalking in with his finger pointing. "You! You sneaky Vulcan bastard! You lied! You said the universe would explo-"

"I only implied," the older Spock said, nodding his head at the captain with a slight upturn at the corner of his mouth.

"And you assumed," the younger Spock supplied with an eyebrow raised. "I believe you remember what it means to assume?
Ugh... busy...

So yeah... I've been extremely busy.

Within two months, Meer and I found a house and bought it. D: While this should really be a happy thing, it just seems to feel like nothing but cruddy things have been going on.

Like, within three days of moving in (we got the house Friday) the drains in the floor for the water run-off of the hot water heater and A/C unit flooded the living room, completely ruining our wood floors. We've got a guy ripping up our floors now to replace them, which is in the way with our unpacking and totally keeps us from spending time living in our house. We can't find anything in the stuff we packed. We have no food in the house because we have no time now to go grocery shopping, leading us to resort to fastfood. Meer and I are on opposite shifts every other month, this month being one of them, so we barely have time in between working and sleeping to actually talk to each other about the house or apartment. We still have to make a return trip to the apartment to clean up some stuff the landlord was nitpicky about. Because we had to break the lease for the apartment to get the house, we've got to pay 6 months still on the apartment ON TOP of paying the mortgage. And we had to take vacation time off to move, only to return to work to find out that they are beginning temporary layoffs again. So if we want a solid, though less the usual income, we have to take the layoff and collect unemployment. Or we could suffer with working whatever days they have work, and possibly only get a day or two of pay. D:

So, I may get the month of November off again this year. I should know by tomorrow or so. Only, I won't have money FOR ANYTHING. In fact, I've waited 2 years to see the Astro Boy movie, and now I can't see it at all, BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY.

But you know what November means, right?

NANOWRIMO!!!! :D

Okay. I don't know if I want to start actually writing the Reboot version of the 5 year mission (which would be practically GEN for the most part), or if I want to write the Kirk/Spock filled sequel I was planning for the Reboot 5 year mission. Decisions, decisions.

Since NaNoWriMo'ing is free, this is what I will spend my layoff attempting. *nods*

Dude. I need a beta. Hardcore. And a cheerleader or two would be awesome...

Need to be down with Star Trek, the new movie mostly, but knowing the original series is a plus. It's, uh... many different combinations of Kirk/Spock... many times over... *headdesk*

I'm writing for the Star Trek Big Bang. Gotta have at least 15k words, and a story complete by September 15th. Beta'ing complete and a polished story needs to be ready by mid-October. It will be posted anonymously with either art and/or a fanmix, with an author and artist reveal to come later.
I'm using the fic I'm NaNoWriMo'ing along side plotbunny_tiff this month.
It's to be somewhat huge when it's complete, kinda broken down into three parts.
I can not post the story, seeing as it is an entry to the Big Bang thing, but if a person or two would be willing to help me out (I'm talking SRS constructive criticism and mebbe some cheering), we can go with emails or converse over AIM.

It's been so long since I've written this much, and I need a lot of help, apparently. My self-esteem in the writing department is at an all time low. I am incredibly insecure with my writing and the way the story is developing so far, so it's becoming really hard to keep writing.

I guess, if anyone still follows this LJ and is willing to help me out a little, please respond in the comments? I'd be ever so greatful.

Again, thanks to plotbunny_tiff for the prompt, and also thanks to Gmail for the random thinger over my inbox that spits out stuff like... well, a Shakespeare quote for this instance. ^^;;

Bedtime Philosophy Discussions
by Chibimono Akuno

"We know what we are, but know not what we may be," Spock's voice murmured over the communicator.

Kirk smiled. "Is that Shakespeare?" he asked.

"Correct, Jim," came the reply.

"Well, that's an interesting choice for the night, my friend," Kirk sighed as he settled into bed.

"No unusual than any other night, Jim. Besides, we've both utilized quotes from Shakespeare in the past."

Kirk turned on his side and looked at the personal receiver resting on his pillow. "Was the choice of this one, perhaps... chosen with some sort of logic, Spock? Or was it completely at random?"

There was a long pause on the other end. "I believe that, perhaps, there was some logic involved."

"Really?"

"If you are implying that I actively sought out this quote, you are mistaken," Spock said, sounding almost amused. If he were anyone else, he probably would have chuckled. "However, upon sifting through the computer base, I found this one to transcend all others in an effort to gain my attention."

So, Spock was still thinking about it, too.

"It was a mistake, Spock," Kirk laughed, pressing on at a quite hum from the other end of the line. "Granted, a mistake I would willingly make again and again if you would let me."

"I have no doubt of that," was Spock's quick response. "But then, would it be so much of a mistake anymore?"

"Ah, and there is where the quote comes in, doesn't it, my friend?" Kirk figured. "Or should I say, my lover?"

"Good night, Jim," Spock said swiftly.

"Whoa, whoa, what happened to our philosophical discussion. Are we done already?"

"I said good night, Jim."

"Don't I even get a kiss?" Kirk gently pleaded to the communicator.

"You mean make one of your mistakes?" Spock asked before pausing. Then: "No, I don't believe they transfer through receivers as well as you would like."

"Alright, fine."

"Good night, Jim."

"Good night, Spock."

Kirk flipped his communicator closed and smiled. Turning onto his back, he tucked his hands behind his head and wondered if, instead of the traditional bedtime discussion of philosophy through notable quotations being held over personal receiver, maybe he could have Spock join him at bedtime in person. After all, the communicator was a clever little thing, but the real deal was always much better.

.end.

It flickered with age and damage, the recording becoming too old with repeated viewing and mishandling. The colors were faded and bled into each other, tan skin paled to bluish hues and maroon turned a washed out brown. The lone figure in the image smiled, laughed, his face blurred with warped pixels. If there was an easier way to upgrade the hologram, it didn't matter; memory supplied the corrections the hologram lacked.

"-appy bir--day, ol- frie-d," the garbled playback cheered, out of sync with the image. The rest of the message was completely incomprensible, but it was memorized a long time ago. Viewed every night after meditation, before bed, it was the last he ever had of Jim. And after all these years, it did not matter how much the hologram deteriorated, it was all Spock wanted, needed.

.end.

Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid. In the end, the mermaid dies for her love as the prince marries another. It's horribly bittersweet, mostly because there is a happily everafter, but it's found in the afterlife. D: In a way, romance seems more realistic when read like that. Love doesn't always happen the way it should in Disney movies. There's always a little heartbreak somewhere. Nothing is quite perfect. Things aren't always as they should be. And from this, I guess I've come to prefer more realistic romance stories. Sure, things between the characters work out or the characters stay together, but things are not exactly perfect. And that's when a person starts to realize you gotta love unconditionally, love all the faults and imperfections, because love, and the people in love, are not always perfect. And if things should not work out in the end, you don't have to be happy because the other person is happily with someone else. Be happy because they were once an extention of you and they're at piece after being seperated and now it's time to move on to find your own happiness.

Ah, fudge, I'm rambling now. lol But the book I had growing up had some really lovely pictures of mermaids. I used to just stare at the pages for hours. I wonder if I still have it packed away?

<strike>Also, the starship Enterprise is a fabulous ship. Massive and beautiful. I kinda wish I could be Captain Kirk. D:</strike> Now I wanna write Trek fic about a planet submerged in water and mermaids. <strike>lol Mr. Spock in a Vulcan swimsuit.
So yeah... that last post was an April Fool's joke. The first April Fool's post I've made on LJ that I can remember ever doing. A lot of people got worried, and I'm sorry for that.
If it makes you feel better... I did get hurt today. D:

At work, we have these "case sealers", which are nothing more than huge, industrial tape machines that fold the top flaps of a box closed and then tapes shut the top and bottom of the boxes. Two belts grip at the sides of the box and pull them into and through the machine, so that a pneumatic arm swings down and folds one of the flaps. It's kinda hard to explain... but I found pics. lol

Image A and Image B are the tape machines the two other lines at work use. My line uses a machine much like Images A and B, but has a pneumatic arm much like Image C, heavy and bulky.

Changing box sizes require you to manually adjust the machine to fit the box. You have to stop the machine and/or open the door, which is supposed to render the machine safe to work inside of.

So that's what I as doing when the machine attacked me.

But for some reason, unlike the other tape machines on the other lines, the air pressure doesn't completely leave the arm of the tape machine on my line. And for some reason, while I was adjusting the machine, the arm lost air pressure and WHAM! came down on my hand.

I now have a massively nasty bruised welt the size of a quarter or more on the back of my left hand. Touching it, making a tight fist, and lifting more than a pound or so of weight make it hurt like hell. I don't think anything is broken or fractured, just a some damage to the muscle. I let my supervisor know, and though it hurt enough to make me nauseous, I kept working. Bah, I shouldn't have acted so tough. D:

It feels a lot better now, though. Mebbe it'll get stiff enough overnight that I won't be able to use my hand tomorrow and I can get out of work. ^^;; I'm so bad.

Also--THANK YOU, GUIA, FOR MY NEW LAYOUT! I LOVE FRANKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD NnnnmmmmmSUUUUUPAAAAAR!!!!

And--Yesterday, I became the proud mommy of my second Dollfie boy. :D My LeekeWorld-L Koji head arrived yesterday to go with the body that plotbunny_tiff gave me.
omfg I'm going through this completely bizarre need for <strike>Robin</strike> <strike>Batman</strike> Robin. Yeah, Robin. I'm guessing it's the RIP and Last Rites stuff that's making me focus on him <strike>since I can't really do anything about Batman</strike>. I had this idea to write some fic... and I'm just fighting it. Fighting it mostly because I'd pick and choose at canon, and I dun really wanna do that. But ARGH!!! Teenage angst and love triangles and identity troubles! And just the chance to play with Robin. Because I love Tim Drake so very very very much, with his snark and youth and intelligence<strike> and oh-so-delicious makings of being the next Batman... *drools* I want to make him the next Batman so very badly... uhg, fic..</strike>.

I've always been a fan of Robin. Well, Robin (until he became Nightwing) and Robin III. I wanted Jason Todd dead as much as everyone else did. >D Nightwing, on the other hand, I've stayed very far away from because his emo-ness just... blah. I do enjoy him now, mostly because he doesn't come across as emo as he seemed.<strike>.. and he can be so flawed as a hero sometimes. :3</strike>

<strike>I wish Spoiler stayed dead. ;_; And Tim would work it out with Zoanne.</strike>

And EFF. I was looking for images of Robin (and Batman) to make myself some icons... and I run into some fanart of Robin III x Superboy...
askldfja;slkdfja;lskdjf;alskdfja;lksdjflaskdjflskajlsdkjlsdjflsajk;ldskfj;asdlkfja;kfdja;kfjas;kdjfa;kdljfa;kdfasldkfjasl;dfkja;lskfjalksqrufeiawwof;jmn omfg I want my DC Universe to stay a little hetero, because I really don't like the thought of Bruce/Batman being in some sort of relationship with Dick/Nightwing or Tim/Robin (THEY ARE LEGALLY HIS SONS NOW, K) <strike>ROTFLMAO the YOUR SON joke works here! XDDD</strike>. Batman as a pedo is one of the hugely serious squicks I actually have. I don't really like Dick and Tim together that much, though, either.
But Tim and Connor? asdfa;ksdjalkjaflsdkfjasldkfj hotness.

Blah. I'm gonna put off attempting to write a fic.
Which sucks, because writing the fic would be... me writing again... Orz

Today, February 7th, 2009--
In the original series of Macross, today was the beginning of the future. Today was the day that the SDF-1 Macross ship launched from Earth and began it's journey through the universe, only for an alien race to show up and begin a war.

Macross has a huge following in Japan (and America where we call it Robotech). There is a huge celebration happening in Akihabara this month for the occasion of the Macross' first lauch,

If you haven't watched any old episodes of the Robotech or Macross series (which is actually very difficult to get in the US, other than some short OVA series and such, because the original Macross series would be more expensive than all the American anime companies together could ever afford--It's just worht that much in Japan), I would suggest watching a recent series like Macross Frontier. It has many of the same elements of the original series with some modern flair. Also, the music and singing is catchy. :D
